Start of Basketball Season...
Wow, I can’t believe its November already! The last few weeks have really flown by with
the start of basketball season. I can’t
be any more excited to be back out there on the court. The first two weeks of practice
have gone really well and the chemistry on the court has been great.
(I managed to get a picture from practice and my teammate Andy saw this as the right time to work on his modeling career!) This past Saturday we had a chance to
scrimmage against SUNY Canton which was really nice because after a while it’s
nice to play against people that you don’t play with everyday and see where we
are as a team, two weeks into the season.
We have another scrimmage this Saturday, which should present us with
some more preparation for November, 21st when we officially tip-off
our season against the 12th ranked team in the country according to pre-season polls. I think everyone is really anxious for games to start.
We’ve
been really working hard in practice the last few weeks, but I think all the
athletic teams would agree that we wouldn’t be able to perform at the level we
do, without the amazing training staff here at SLU.
The training room is always open during
practice with the trainers doing whatever it takes to make sure that athletes are getting the
proper treatment before and after practices. I think that if it were not for the great sports medicine staff, our
athletics programs would just not be as competitive as they are. I personally take full advantage of the the training room to make sure that I can keep my performance at a high level. On a side note: after receiving snowfall
right before Halloween, I was sure that winter was going to start setting in. I
was fortunately very wrong. The last few days I have been trying to get
outside as much as possible because the weather has been amazing. I can’t
remember the last time it was this nice in the beginning of November! I hope everyone will go out and enjoy these gorgeous days that we are having before the real winter weather sets in!
