Hey, I'm Baaaaack!
Prior to Saturday I had never attended a Swimming & Diving event before. Although sunny, the temperature read single digits and sitting inside a heat vaporized room seemed like a good solution. Some of the races were like 15 minutes long; I never anticipated that. The swimmers had just about 40 laps to do which I think were the 1000 Yard Freestyles. I even ran into Tim Akers, an Admissions counselor, who is a former SLU swimmer himself.
Afterward, while I was on my way to the University Inn to grab lunch at
the restaurant/bar (nicknamed the U. Inn) I saw several deer on my
right just as I was exiting St. Lawrence's main campus entrance. I think our landscape is very unique compared to other college campuses. Students are able to navigate through a thousand acre terrain enriched by a variety of unusual trees. There are even a couple of trees in the library!
Our squash team had its first home match this morning against the number eight team, Dartmouth. We may have lost by a considerable amount but I beleive we played pretty well against a team placing 20 ranks ahead of us. We're off next weekend but I hope to see more faces for our match against Middlebury on February 5!
I also had a great winter break...
