The Final Four

I finally have all my classes in order and I'm pleased that I'll be ending on a good note. I'm taking the following classes this semester:

Music Video with Dr. David Henderson
"In this course, we look at the rise of music video, its predecessors, and its influences. While we will focus primarily on the history and criticism of music video, this course also includes a substantial production component in which you will create and edit music and video files." (Music/Film: Music Video, Syllabus by Dr. David Henderson, 2009)

Life Sentences with Dr. Bob Cowser
"Students in 'Life Sentences' will interrogate this cultural ignorance, experiencing prison life firsthand at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility, a medium security state prison 25 miles from campus, and via first-person narratives about prison life. They will discuss issues surrounding contemporary prisons with incarcerated men in a classroom setting modeled on the Temple University Inside/Outside program."
(SYE: Life Sentences, Syllabus by Dr. Bob Cowser, 2009)

Rhetoric of Pop Culture with Dr. Traci Fordham-Hernandez
This is a senior seminar course where we'll deconstruct the ways in which we communicate in a "Pop Culture." Cultures involve a combination of compliance, resistance, conformity, and deviance. It is a material based community with shared norms and beliefs Ha, well I'd tell you more but I just entered this class on Tuesday, the last possible day you're allowed to enter a class, so I'll tell you a little more after attending my second class (tomorrow).

Feminist Contributions to Political Theory with Professor Jessica Willis

"The purpose of this course is to help students gain an enriched understanding of the various strategic and often competing ways that feminists have framed discussions about sex, gender, power, agency and oppression. Through close textual analysis, students will compare and contrast various perspectives in order to analyze the assumptions, problems, and strengths of alternative feminist viewpoints." (Gender/Government: Feminist Contributions to Political Theory, Syllabus by Jessica Willis, 2009)
