Early Decision and #Snowpocolypse

Tomorrow marks November 1st, the traditional deadline for Early Decision applications at many schools across the country.  Just now I recieved a phone call from a guidance counselor worried about the process as most of New England is burried under snow and suffering from massive power outages.  With no power how are schools and students supposed to submit the application online?

Chronicles of Lyndsay (@LyndsayLaBarge) Week 3

Hi All-

I realized that I never sent out a week 3 email update for everyone. Seems a bit
pointless now seeing as I will be back in the office this Friday, I know, I
know, you are all excited to see me BUT I figured I would do a little update on
how week 3 went anyways...

Chronicles of Lyndsay (@LyndsayLaBarge)

This is a guest post from Lyndasy Labarge, Assistant Director of Admissions.  Lyndsay is keeping me updated on travel and I will be posting these updates here so you get a bit of an inside look at what we do day to day in the fall.  Kevin Mathes and I will be posting similar updates.

Hi Payson, SLU, and friends-

Twitter 101 - SLU Style

Twitter, I am sure you have heard about it by now but probably don't understand the purpose of it.  I spend a great deal of time on campus educating students, faculty, and staff on the uses and power of twitter.  So many people don't understand why they should care what Ashton Kutcher is having for breakfast, because that is what you tweet about right?  Twitter is just for entertainment and serves no real functional purpose right?  Wrong and wrong.

Sneak Peek- 2012 Common App

St. Lawrence University is a Common Application school meaning the only way to apply to SLU is via the Common App.  Each summer the Common App shuts down for site updates as they prepare the next years application.  This year, prior to the online shut down the Common App released PDF copies of what the 2012 applications will look like.

The St. Lawrence Admissions App is live!

Over the past several months St. Lawrence University has been working closely with Straxis Technologies and Hobsons to bring you the St. Lawrence Admissions App.  This is a smart phone application for iPhone/iPad/iPod Touches and Android platforms designed specifically for those who are navigating the college search process.

Spend Your First Semester at SLU in LONDON, ENGLAND

Below I have copied an email that was sent out earlier today to our incoming first year class of 2015 about an exciting opportunity to study abroad in London!  I wanted to share this exiting first year experience with you and I hope you enjoy,

-Tim

The Virtual Commencement

Earlier in the week I posted a blog on how to contribute to the behind the scenes chatter leading up to graduation, at the event itself, and the final thoughts of seniors as they leave campus not as students, but as alumni of St. Lawrence University by using twitter.  To contribute to the conversation all you have to do is use the hashtag #SLUgrad2011 at the end of your tweets.
