1871 Herring Library opens
1902 Cole Reading Room opens
1920 SLU becomes US Federal depository library
1950 Four full time librarians on staff
1959 Owen D Young Library opens
1967 Upon departure of ATC, Valentine Reading room opens
1976 Library converts from Dewey Decimal
classification to Library of Congress scheme
1980 Torrey Wing of ODY opens
1990 ODYsseus unveiled
1994 Launders Science Library opens
1998/99 Extensive renovation of ODY
