Gender, Sex, and Sexuality Conference

The Gender, Sex, and Sexuality Conference began in 2013 with the intention of gathering area faculty, staff, and students to talk about issues of gender, sex, and sexuality.

Fees: Faculty $55; Students $25

This year, we offer the option to donate to help fund a deserving scholar who otherwise could not afford. If you wish to donate, please follow the links on the registration page. If you need this funding, please contact a conference organizer as soon as possible.

Keynote Speaker

"An Accidental Scholar: Lessons Learned in the US Women's Movement"

Jo Reger is professor of Sociology, the director of the Women and Gender Studies program at Oakland University in Michigan and the editor of Gender & Society. She is the author of Everywhere and Nowhere: Contemporary Feminism in the United States (2012, Oxford University Press), the editor of Different Wavelengths: Studies of Contemporary Feminism in the United States (2005, Routledge) and a co-editor of The Oxford Handbook of Women’s Social Movement Activism (2017, Oxford University Press), and Identity Work in Social Movements (2008, University of Minnesota Press). Her work on the U.S. women’s movements has appeared in a variety of journals including Gender & Society, Qualitative Sociology, Feminist Formations, and the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography. She is working on a new version of Different Wavelengths (expected publication 2018, Routledge) to capture the feminist activism around the 2017 Women’s marches. Her latest research project examines music and the women’s movement of the 1960s-1980s.
