POSITION DESCRIPTION

Each Orientation Leader works with a specific First-Year College, assisting students in their transition to St. Lawrence University.

Orientation Leaders meet once during the Spring semester for training and an overview of Fall 2007 Orientation. Leaders will return to campus August 22, 2007 to prepare for Orientation. Leaders are compensated with free room and board until the upperclass student meal plan begins.

What will you do as an Orientation Leader?
  • Share your University experiences with new students and families
  • Facilitate small groups
  • Help students and their families navigate campus
  • Be approachable and available to all students within your selected FYP
  • Participate in all Orientation meetings and functions, including the FYP college community meeting and dinner
  • Work with the faculty and Community Assistant staff to facilitate activities and programs during Orientation
  • Ensure that students from your FYP attend Orientation programs
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with your FYP throughout their first semester
  • Serve as a positive role model for your new students
  • HAVE FUN!
