The next time you get a great deal on a Caribbean cruise or five-star hotel through Priceline.com, you can thank Jeff Boyd '78. Boyd is president and CEO of the Internet-based travel service that allows you to bid on your best price for hotel rooms, rental cars, vacation packages and cruises. He earned his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1981 and began a career in private and corporate law before taking his place in the new world of Internet marketing.
“My experience at St. Lawrence helped me in many ways,” says Boyd, a government major who served on the Student Judiciary Board and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned other honors. “Strong academic and writing programs helped me get into, and survive, law school. The broader liberal arts curriculum taught me the value of continuous learning as I have worked in several different industries and in the global online marketplace.”
Before becoming president and CEO at Priceline, Boyd was on its Board of Directors, and on the board of TravelWeb.com. A St. Lawrence trustee, he has been a Reunion giving volunteer and a career advisor, and has spoken at numerous admissions and alumni events. He and his wife, Terry, have established an endowed scholarship fund at St. Lawrence, in honor of his parents.
