The Spatial Analysis Project
Director: Carol Cady

The Spatial Analysis Labratory has been established as the access point for students and faculty who are working with the ISEI project's Natural History Database and the Libraries' Digital Atlas of the St.
Lawrence Valley Lowlands and the Adirondack Highlands. Digital maps of the campus, New York State, and most of the world are now available for use in the lab. The lab is located on the top floor of the Launders Science Library and offers users access to high end GIS workstations; GIS and GPS software including ArcView 3.3, ArcGIS 9, Erdas Imagine 8.7, and Pathfinder Office; a fast connection to the University network; large format color printing; and technical assistance from Lou Zeppieri (Science Instrumentation GIS/GPS Technician), Carol Cady (GIS Specialist), Eric Williams-Bergen (Science Librarian) and student GIS assistants.

Lou and Carol are also available to assist faculty and students with the use and maintenance of field science equipment, specifically sampling, data logging, and field monitoring equipment in the project study area, and the GPS rover units. The new GIS workstations in the Spatial Analysis Laboratory were purchased with Rockefeller Brothers Foundation and Wachtmeister funds; a three-year challenge grant is raising additional support to assist ISEI related projects. The lab is open to all students and faculty and may be scheduled for class instruction by appointment.
