Little River Nature Area

The Little River Nature Area is a 400 acre parcel of wooded land adjacent to the St. Lawrence campus. With numerous trails for hiking, biking and cross country skiing, the area attracts nature lovers from all around Canton. Situated along the banks of the Little and Grasse Rivers, the area is home to numerous species of plants and animals.
It also offers richly diverse ecosystems for study, including oxbow ponds, marshy wetlands, coniferous and deciduous forest, old growth meadows and the streambanks themselves.
There are many ongoing research projects underway throughout the nature area, focusing mainly on the biology and geology of the area.
