Dymon Lewis ’11 saw a world of possibilities in St. Lawrence.  One of the things Dymon, of Hopewell Junction, NY, knew for sure when she was conducting her college search was that she wanted to attend a small school.  “Huge classes are not my idea of an education,” says the Arlington High School graduate.  A teacher who is a recent St. Lawrence alumna encouraged her to apply.  When she was accepted, she saw the campus for the first time.  “It’s a beautiful place; it’s scenic even in winter.  But mostly I loved how friendly the people are,” she recalls. 

“My mom was really behind my coming here because she read about the First-Year Program and how it helps students adapt. She said she actually dreamed of me coming to St. Lawrence.” In fact, Dymon did so well her first year that she received the Bradley R. Evers Outstanding First-Year Student Award.  She has become involved with Habitat for Humanity, performed in the play The Laramie Project and writes a column for The Hill News student newspaper.  “I just love the small community feel here,” she says.  “Not only can you make a lot of friends, but your professors will go out of their way to foster one-on-one relationships with you.”

Dymon plans to double major in English and Performance and Communication Arts.
