Biometric Screenings To Be Offered
The St. Lawrence Health and Wellness Committee will sponsor biometric screenings, conducted by IgniteHealth Wellness Management Services, on campus October 17 through 19.
• All full-time benefit eligible employees are eligible to participate.
• All participants are asked to fast to ensure the most favorable results. This means no caloric intake for at least eight hours prior to the screening, except for water.
• Continue to take any medications as instructed by your doctor. If you are a diabetic or have another medical condition and are unsure if you can fast, please check with your physician.
• While biometric testing is safe, it is not recommended that pregnant women participate, as pregnancy may cause inaccurate results. If you are pregnant, please still make an appointment and notify your screener. You will receive credit for participation.
THE SCREENING PROCESS: The screening will consist of a finger stick with a very small needle. A small blood sample will be taken and tested for cholesterol and glucose levels. The screening technicians will also take your blood pressure and measure your body weight, height and calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI). Overall, this process should take no more than 15 minutes and you will receive your confidential results immediately. You will be provided with a personalized copy of the Biometric Screening Results Brochure.
THE RESULTS: Your technician will interpret each of your results. This is your opportunity to ask questions, receive clarification, get recommendations for needed follow up with your Primary Care Provider, and become aware of any health risks that may exist. You will also receive a score called the Ignitehealth Quotient (IHQ), which is a measure of an individual’s biometric risk.
Screenings will be offered Tuesday, October 17; Wednesday, October 18; and Thursday, October 19, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To scheduled your screening, please click here.
