April 9 Roundtable: "The Politics and Legacy of Hugo Chávez”

On April 9, students, faculty, and members of the community gathered for a round-table and discussion organized by Visiting Assistant Professor of Caribbean and Latin American Studies, Dr. Juan José Ponce-Vázquez, “The Politics and Legacy of Hugo Chávez.” Other panelists included the History Department’s Dr. Evelyn Jennings, Dr. Martha Chew Sanchez from Global Studies, and Drs. Shelley McConnell and Karl Schonberg from Government. Panelists discussed the importance of Hugo Chavez legacy in Venezuela, and Latin America as a whole, paying particular attention to his relationship with the governments of Nicaragua, Cuba, Spain, and Mexico.
