At St. Lawrence
Major: HistoryMinor: GovernmentActivities: Football team; Senator, Thelomathesian Society; CRI Investment Club
I came to St. Lawrence unsure of what I wanted to study. It was actually not until my sophomore year that I enrolled in my first History class with Dr. Alvah. (So there's hope for those still confused after Freshman year!) Along the way, I minored in Government.
Professional Position: Associate, Covidien Health Care
After graduating from St. Lawrence I had my heart set on outside sales. I had experienced the cubicle environment after having interned for a bank the previous two summers and I felt I would get more enjoyment out of going out and engaging with people. Health care appeared to be a stable industry to get into so I applied online for an open associate position for a company called Covidien.
I got a call back about two weeks later and after going through the interview process they informed me the position would locate me to Raleigh, NC. I figured that now is the time to travel and take advantage of this great opportunity.
Exactly two months after graduation I found myself moving down to N.C. My job responsibilities are to support our sales team and provide in-service, clinical and educational support to the Nursing Care Acute (hospital) customers. Our primary product categories include Enteral Feeding, Enteral Access, Incontinence, Wound Care, and Urology.
It's been an amazing experience so far. I have truly benefitted from the reading and writing skills I acquired from history classes in the way I study and learn our product categories as well as compose emails.
