H1N1 Flu - May 4, 2009
Last week we communicated that The Torrey Health Center had been seeing a number of students with viral illness characterized by fever. As part of our ongoing communications with the New York State Health Department, we shared the patterns we had been seeing. None of our cases met the criteria outlined by the NYS Department of Health as suspicious, but the Department of Health asked us to send two samples for “surveillance” so they could determine whether any new connections to H1N1 were present.  We’re very happy to report that both samples have been confirmed as negative for H1N1. H1N1 Flu - May 1, 2009
You'll note the change in the label of this flu.  The flu is actually a strain that includes three types of viruses, only one of which is derived from the swine virus. So we are following CDC protocol and labeling the virus by its scientific term.

On Wednesday, we shared that the Torrey Health Center has been seeing a number of students with illnesses characterized by fever of 100 degrees or higher.  The number of students reporting to Torrey Health Center has declined on Thursday and Friday. More updates...

The Diana B. Torrey '82 Health and Counseling Center is located on the university's campus at 76 Park Street. Our office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
