Services Provided:

Individual Counseling:

Provides an opportunity for self-focused exploration of feelings attitudes and behaviors. Appropriate referrals are made as necessary.

Group Counseling:

Groups offer the experience of interacting meaningfully with others in a supportive environment. They may be arranged around a common issue or topic and vary from semester to semester.

Resource Library:

Counseling Services offers a variety of self-help books and tapes that may be used in the office or checked out for extended use.

Workshops Available:

Small Group Workshops

Various workshops are offered throughout the year for the campus community. Staff members are available to work with students and campus community to plan and present programs of interest. Past programs have included but have not been limited to:

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Multicultural concerns
  • Sexuality and relationships
  • Alcohol/drug use and abuse
  • Leadership and motivational training
  • Eating Disorders

Living with Loss Student Support Group

Evening of Remembrance
There's a very special garden where the trees of memory grow nurtured by the kindness and concern that good friends show. The roots are cherished memories of good times in the past, the branches tender promise that souls endure and last. If you would like a picture of your loved one to appear in the program please, send if via electronic email or you can leave your picture at Torrey Health and Counseling Center.

Crisis Support Team
The Crisis Support Team (CST) is a group comprised of faculty and staff who participate in ongoing crisis response training. The objective of the crisis support team is to provide emotional support for students in the aftermath of a crisis. Beyond Food and Body
A discussion/educational group about improving body image, improving your relationship with food, and ending your obsession with weight. Alcohol and Drug Support Group | *Spring 2008 Meeting Time TBA
The Office of Counseling Services and the St. Lawrence University Wellness Initiative offer an on campus substance abuse group. The group will be focused on helping students who want to better control their use and/or help students who have decided to remain sober maintain that goal. This group will help students investigate why they use alcohol and other drugs, investigate other alternatives and offer support as they work to reduce or abstain from use. This group will be open to students from all four Associated Colleges and will be held weekly during the academic year.

When: Every Thursday during the fall semester, 4:15-5:00 PM Where: The Diana B. Torrey '82 Health and Counseling Center Multi-Purpose Room (immediate left after you enter the building). If it is your first time coming to the group, please arrive five minutes early to fill out a form on confidentiality and a brief survey.
