IT 'goes green' Again
The Information Technology Department continues to make advances in sustainability. This summer's replacement of personal and lab desktop computers was another ‘green rollout.' While this year includes energy efficiency of hardware and use of electric vehicles for delivery as done in previous years IT pushed the limit with the depth of the requests made of vendors.
The SLU IT Department played a key role by asking vendors to share information on the sustainability of their computers from waste, water use, energy and greenhouse gas reductions to energy efficiency. They also asked questions about sustainable practices at factories, such as the use of bicycles and implementation of alternatives to toxic materials.
