Lecture: Climate Change, Coastal Communities and Food Security

As part of SLU's forum "Climate Change: We're All in It Together" Dan Kent (Kent Family Growers), Jon Rosales (St. Lawrence University) and Rick Welch (Syracuse University) will give a presentation on "The Implications of Inaction on Climate Change for Coastal Communities and Food Security."

Dan Kent and his family operate a farm with an eight-acre garden in the Town of Waddington, N.Y. The Kents abide by NYSGAP "Good Agricultural Practices" for the safe handling of food.  Jon Rosales is an assistant professor of environmental studies at St. Lawrence University.  His research focuses on the ethics of United Nations climate change policy, climate change impacts on traditional and subsistence foods in Alaska, and old-growth forest preservation.  Rick Welsh is a professor of food studies at Syracuse University.  His research interests address economic and social change and development with emphasis on agriculture and food systems, the sociology of science and technology, and environmental sociology.
