Please consider joining the St. Lawrence team of the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit.
Who: A team of students and staff
representing St. Lawrence University (as space is limited I will give priority
to first and second year students, but all who are interested should let me
know as I want to take a full group)
What: Adirondack Youth Climate Summit
Where: Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY
When: Wednesday, November 14th (7am-7:30pm) and Thursday, November 15th (7am-5:30pm)
Why: "The Adirondack [region] educational institutions have the potential to be a model in the 21st century for students taking action to avoid a crisis and in the process save their schools and communities money. The participating institutions will serve as models in energy efficiency, sustainable energy usage, building maintenance, landscaping & grounds management, school & community garden planning, and how to affect the current science curriculum in schools."
Perks: Great local food-two days of breakfast and lunch and one yummy dinner all for free; you get to spend quality time with SLU's Sustainability Coordinator and other community members who are passionate about issues of sustainability and climate change; you get to meet students and staff from other colleges working on these same issues; you get to visit the Wild Center for free
Outcomes: An action item(s) for this year will be decided by the group.
Interest and Questions should be directed to SLU's ADK Youth Climate Summit 2011 Team Leader, Louise Gava.
