Community Contra Dance

  • What: Community Contra Dance
  • When: Saturday, May 7, 2011 7PM - 9:30PM (7-7:30 half hour lesson for beginners)
  • Where:
    St. Mary's School Gymnasium
  • Who: SLU Students and North Country community; the caller for the dance will be Beth Robinson and live music will be provided by Gretchen Koehler, Don Woodcock and Carter Houk.   
  • Why: The dance is jointly organized by TAUNY, the Sustainable Living Project (SLP), and the students of St. Lawrence University's Greenhouse. The organizations envision the dance as an opportunity to bring together students and the broader community for a healthy, community-building event that carries on a centuries-long tradition of country barn and social dances.

Suggested donation is $3-5 for students, $10 for the general public, and under 16 free. Please where soft-soled shoes. It is not require to come with a partner. This is an alcohol-free event with funding from the SLU Student Life.
