SLU Hits the Lights
Dear campus community,
In solidarity with the largest grassroots campaign ever - 10/10/10: the Global Work Party with 7,347 events in 188 countries (see www.350.org) - the Environmental Action Organization and Conservation Council encourage you to participate in our Hit the Lights campaign to reduce SLU's electricity use by 5% by the end of the term (FYI, roughly 30% of our electricity use goes toward lighting).
Turning lights off reduces energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, reduces light pollution, and saves money.
In addition to being mindful of electricity use, you can request Hit the Lights stickers from Ben Watson to stick on light switches that you notice often get left on.
We will compare SLU's electricity use over the next three months with averages of past years and send out monthly update.
