"The Age of Stupid" - Documentary

Oct 24th is International Global Climate Change Day. The goal is to build the public's awareness of global climate change and build momentum (political will) for the UN climate summit in Copenhagen in December 2009 to finalise the successor to the Kyoto Treaty. We need a new treaty that is as strong as the science demands - massive cuts in global emissions starting very soon with the goal of reducing current levels of greenhouse gases (reducing carbon dioxide levels to 350 ppm).

The Biology Dept and Student Activities will be showing the new docudrama, "The Age of Stupid" Oct 24 in Gulick Auditorium at 7 PM. (1.5 hrs long). *The Age of Stupid* is the new four-year epic from McLibel director Franny Armstrong http://www.ageofstupid.net/people/franny_armstrong . Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite http://www.ageofstupid.net/people/pete_postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 (real footage) and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance? I will be handing out info sheets with facts about global climate change (hopefully 350) and 35 things to do to reduce levels of green house gases (compiled by my class, Natural World).

Please announce to your classes, your friends and consider attending yourself. We hope to fill Gulick (capacity 500).
