Eve Stoddard received her BA from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. from UCLA, both in English. Her areas of interest are cultural and postcolonial studies, comparative race and ethnicity, tourism, and the history of slavery in the British empire. She teaches Caribbean and Irish literature, postcolonial theory, and both introductory and senior level courses on race and ethnicity. With Grant Cornwell, she does considerable speaking, writing, and consulting on faculty and curriculum development related to internationalization, global and intercultural studies in higher education in the U.S. They co-edited a volume of essays called Global Multiculturalism: Comparative Perspectives on Race, Ethnicity, and Nation and co-authored a monograph for the Association of American Colleges and Universities called Globalizing Knowledge: Connecting International and Intercultural Studies. Currently they are writing about the politics of engaged pedagogy as well as working on a book about the ways former sugar plantations in the Caribbean are appropriated for use in the tourist industry. Dr. Stoddard is the chair of the Global Studies department (except for spring 2005 when Dr. Chew Sanchez will be acting chair). Her office is Rm. 101, 82 Park Street and her phone is 315 229-5992.
