John and Susie Wean P’06 of Pittsburgh, PA, honor their daughter’s education with a gift to enhance arts technology. “We have a strong belief in the importance of education and
have been very pleased with our daughter’s experience at St. Lawrence,” say John and Susie, whose daughter Britton graduated in 2006.
“We had been contemplating a gift since she declared
fine arts as her major, and when the arts renovation project began to take shape and became a priority, we thought it would be the ideal focus of our gift, in support of Britton’s interests. The rapidly increasing application of technology in the arts excited us. A tour of the then-existing facilities convinced us that our gift could
make an immediate impact by helping to accelerate the project.”
“Britton spent many evenings in the studios, working on projects for her classes. Her goal is to teach elementary school art. She was delighted to learn that we wanted to support the renovation project, because she had seen the need first-hand. She views our gift as
a reaffirmation of her efforts in the arts.
“Our counsel to other
parents who are thinking about making a major gift to St. Lawrence is, ‘Just do it!’ Find an area that you would like to support, preferably because of what it means to you or your student. We think of our gift as an opportunity to give back to St. Lawrence for all that it has done for our daughter.”
