Rohrbach Scholar Christy Tobia ’08 shares
and appreciates the sense of family legacy. Her grandfather attended
St. Lawrence. “In that sense St. Lawrence is very special
to me, it's been an honor to follow his footsteps while at the same time find my own place,” she says.
The graduate of Corning Painted Post East High School did not choose
St. Lawrence just because of family loyalty, however. She envisioned
herself at a college with a large campus near a major city. But,
she said “as
I finish my sophomore year, I couldn't picture myself anywhere else and
really appreciate the small campus community of St. Lawrence.”
Christy
plans to double major in biology and psychology and
to study abroad.
She’s also applied for a summer University Fellowship.
Christy doesn’t take for granted the opportunities she’s
had thanks to Clay Rohrbach’s generosity. “I can honestly
say that the Rohrbach Scholarship and other financial aid I receive
from St Lawrence are the reasons I can afford to be here. As
a student planning on going to grad school, every dollar is much
appreciated! So
