Why
We Give
Melissa Schulenberg, Assistant
Professor of Fine Arts
Thanks
to a gift of a Takach-Garfield model 3460 hand-operated
lithography press from Connie Harris Saddlemire ’70 and Tom
Saddlemire ’70, art students at St. Lawrence have print media
options that are comparable to very large universities, according
to Assistant Professor of Fine
Arts Melissa Schulenberg.
“This gift allows us to expand our print process to include plate lithography,
viscosity monotypes, and other large-scale print processes,” said Schulenberg. “For
a school the size of St. Lawrence, and with such a small department, we are able
to teach a broad range of print media, more so than many schools our size.” At
St. Lawrence, Schulenberg teaches studio courses (photo) such
as Printmaking, Drawing, a book-making class, and Introduction to
Studio Art. She enjoys them all, but for her own artwork, her preferred
medium is printmaking. “I often
go out into the woods and look for artifacts to incorporate into my art,” says
Schulenberg.
Connie Saddlemire is an artist and Tom Saddlemire is Vice President
