Amy Lichorat ’07 of Westfield, NY, is one of the very best
students to benefit from this generosity. Amy is an economics and government double
major, working with Professor Michael Jenkins on an honors thesis in economics. During
the fall of her sophomore year she studied on St. Lawrence’s program
in London. Junior
year, she joined the women's
crew team as a coxswain. During her first two years at SLU,
she participated in Model United Nations, traveling to Boston to attend mock-UN
conferences. She’s volunteered in the reading/math tutor program
that places SLU students in nearby schools. She’s even taking
advantage of the riding hall at St. Lawrence and has begun riding lessons.
Three
internships round out her St. Lawrence experience, with Permal Asset Management, Cannondale Associates and IBM United Kingdom.
Amy has made the most of St. Lawrence, exemplifying her belief that “the scholarship highlights, in a positive way, the hard work of those students who devote much of their time to government studies. I was very grateful as well as honored to receive the Robert Wells Scholarship.”
