Shane Bogdan ’10, of Sackets Harbor, NY, is making
the most of his new multi-dimensional learning experience. The aspiring music business professional is taking two courses that use the
Newell Center for Arts Technology (NCAT): Music and Technology with Center Director Chris Watts, and Music and Place with Michael Farley.
Since he plans to work in the music recording business, Shane feels it’s important to have first-hand experience with music composition and recording, and
the NCAT’s digital devices encourage creativity, since students can “create, revise, and learn” in an integrated process. His future career requires comfort with multiple media, and the arts technology center encourages students from all arts disciplines to work together on projects, as well as work alongside one another, whether they’re enrolled in
film, fine arts,
communication arts or
music.
“This new facility really sold me,” says Shane. “St. Lawrence had everything I wanted and when I learned about that the new arts technology center would open during my first year, that was icing on the cake!”
Shane describes St. Lawrence as “a very creative place” where
teachers offer the one-on-one teaching so important in the arts.
