“I support St. Lawrence in the ways that I do because without alumni support I wouldn't have been able to have the SLU experience that I did while on campus,” says Katie Alexander ’08. “As a student I took part in a range of activities, from varsity swimming to the Greek System, and I was a student delegate to the Alumni Council. Without the support of many alumni, both monetarily and in person at SLU events, these experiences would not have been possible.”
“Being involved in Alumni Council activities showed me exactly how much alumni take part in shaping our SLU experience and how much they care about the campus for the same reasons that I do,” adds Alexander, who lives in Albany, NY, and is a second-year student at Albany Law School. “I want to allow future generations of SLU students the same opportunities that I was able to be part of. I support SLU with my gifts; by volunteering to give the students who are currently on campus similar life-changing experiences; and by reminding my peers of their time at SLU, and how giving, as much as they are able to, can make a difference for generations to come. I want to give to the future of St. Lawrence for years to come, to help create even bigger and brighter opportunities that weren't imaginable when I was a student.”
At St. Lawrence, Alexander was a psychology and government double major, was a member of the Dance Ensemble and Kappa Delta Sigma sorority in addition to the swim team, and was active in student government and as new student Orientation leader.
