Geology Club

In the Geology Department, the Geology Club is designed to promote unity among students and to promote informal interaction with the faculty.  It is a student run organization designed to allow students to explore the geology of the region outside of the classroom.  To accomplish this goal, they try to offer a number of local field trips every semester to local places of interest.  The club is responsible for service to the department by organizing and funding the annual Parents Weekend Lecture in Geology and assisting with the SLU Geology Alumni Conference that reoccurs every three years (click on the Alumni Resources page for more information about the conference).  The most successful aspect of the Geology Club is its ability to bring all levels of geology students and faculty together in a relaxed setting and to promote the exchange of ideas among them.  It is often said that the most important learning occurs in such situations, and the Geology Club has shown that this can be true.

For information on the activities the Geology Club has planned for the current semester, visit the Department’s Semester Activities Schedule.
