Hiking in the Adirondack Mountains made me decide to choose a major where I could continue my education outdoors, as well as be able to look around and easily recognize what geologic processes took place, how the different rock types formed, and what minerals are present. After my first couple geology classes, I knew it was the major for me. I had the opportunity to travel to Iceland this summer analyzing the glacial geology with the department. I’m looking forward to taking more geology classes and making a career out of it someday.
