Author Jennifer Nash Lecture

Carnegie Hall
010
4/22/14 4:30pm to 6:00pm

Professor Jennifer Nash will be lecturing for her forthcoming book "The Black Body in Ecstasy"  on April 22nd, 2014 at 4:30 pm in Carnegie 010.

In The Black Body in Ecstasy, Jennifer Nash moves beyond black feminism's preoccupation with injury and recovery to consider how racial fictions can create a space of agency and even pleasure for black female subjects.  Her talk will focus on Sexworld, a Golden Age pornographic film, which Nash argues represents its black female protagonist in "race-pleasure,"  effectively relishing blackness in all its hyperbolic complexities.
