Mes chers amis, faisons ensemble un FYS en français! This FYS, conducted entirely in French, focuses on contemporary France. We will look at Paris to examine French urban life as well as French contemporary culture as expressed in the visual arts, architecture, and literature. We will read newspapers, magazines and short novels; we will listen to the radio and study song texts; and, we will watch several films and examine aspects of contemporary France we find in them. There will be several oral presentations as well as several short research projects. If you have taken French 201, or have a strong background in French from high school or a year abroad, and thus enjoy a comfortable fluency in French, this class is for you. This course counts as FR 202, and also qualifies a student to become a candidate for the fall Program in France. For any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Gina Breen: gbreen@stlawu.edu
