Congratulations to
the
2009 Bradley Evers Outstanding First-Year Students
Awarded every year to approximately 18 first-year students, the Evers Awards
recognize students who have been outstanding contributors to the SLU campus
in their first year through a combination of academic achivement and community
involvement.
Bradley R. Evers was a St. Lawrence University First-Year student during
1990-1991. He was very active in the First Year Program and in organizing the
First-Year Student Council and
many first-year co-curricular programs. Brad was chosen the outstanding first-year
student and leader and was presented the award at Moving-Up Day on April 27,
1991. He died suddenly in the summer after his first year,
June 6, 1991, sitting at a park bench while attending summer school at Columbia
University. Brad was admired by all and provided a role model for leadership,
ethical concerns, and social justice.
