Your Body is a Temple

We choose things that are bad for us, and we avoid things that are good for us, why? This course will examine the decision-making processes related to physical, social, emotional, and environmental aspects of health and wellness of college students. Students will investigate SLU’s social norms around food, drink, sleep, and leisure behavior, sleep, and recreation. Students will also focus on navigating the collegiate environment, creating positive campus vibes, and implementing social change. Students will explore their reasoning behind their chosen behavior from a theoretical and then practical lens. For a lot of students, college will be their first chance to independently make decisions that directly impact their health: setting a sleep schedule, navigating the food environment, electing to be physically active, and weaving together a social network. This course fulfills the FYP general education requirement.
