Traveling both to the stage and by the page, this course will examine how queerness is enacted. We begin by defining ‘queerness’ as anything against the grain of normal. In the service of raising fundamental questions concerning how queerness is performed and embodied, we will critically interpret queer performances in novels, plays, and critical essays. This course includes a class trip to see performances in NYC during mid-semester break. This course fulfills the FYP graduation requirement.
