Welcome to the First Year Cup
The First-Year Cup program was designed to help first-year students become aware and get involved in the variety of campus and community activities here at St. Lawrence and then to recognize and reward students’ for their positive participation in campus life throughout the year. And there are so many activities to do at SLU!! First-Year Cup events span many areas of the University to provide a wide variety of ways for first year students to become involved from ping pong and karaoke contests to lectures by campus speakers to concerts by the Laurentian Singers to intramural soccer and broomball. "The First-Year Cup gave us an opportunity to get to know the people we live with very well and we have formed friendships that will last." - Jenna Cooley, Ford College 2003-04 First-Year Cup Winners. Every first-year student comes to SLU with a First-Year Cup team already created: their First Year Program College. First-year students accumulate points for their FYP, and for themselves, by participating in campus activities.
Outstanding involvement is recognized through prizes for both individuals and colleges — special dinners, pizza and wings parties, keepsake photos, trips! The First-Year Cup Trophy is awarded to the FYP College with the most points at the end of the fall semester.
