Part of your financial aid package for the 2008-2009 academic
year at St. Lawrence University may include the offer of a Federal Stafford
Loan (please review your 2008-2009 financial aid award notification to see
if you have been offered a Federal Stafford Loan). As a Federal Stafford
Loan borrower, you have the option to borrow your student loan funds through
any lender, and it is important to note that you may change your lender at
any point in your college career.
If you are satisfied with your current lender, and would like to continue to
borrow through that lender in subsequent semesters at SLU, we will continue to
process your Federal Stafford Loan with that lender. No additional action will
be required on your part.
Some important information about your Federal Stafford Loan:
- You may decline or reduce the amount of your Federal Stafford Loan. If
you wish to decline or reduce your Federal Stafford Loan please contact
the St. Lawrence University Financial Aid Office by calling 800-355-0863,

- You have the option to borrow your Federal Stafford Loan funds through
any lender. St. Lawrence University will process your Federal Stafford
Loan with the lender of your choice, and you will suffer no penalty from
St. Lawrence University if you opt for a lender that is not on our Lender
Options List. If you would like to borrow your Federal Stafford Loan through
a different lender this year, please contact the St. Lawrence University
Financial Aid Office by calling 800-355-0863, or e-mailing finaid@stlawu.edu.
At that point we will provide you with further instructions on how to select
a new lender. Please note that if you decide to select a different lender
you will be required to complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN). To
learn more about the Federal Stafford Loan, review St. Lawrence University's
Lender Options List, and understand on how St. Lawrence compiled this list,
please visit our Federal
Stafford Lender Resources List. You will also be able to review the
highlights of each lender's borrower benefits and customer service offerings.
Important: St. Lawrence University will process your Federal
Stafford Loan in future academic years utilizing the lender you select for
the 2008-2009 academic year unless you specifically notify us that you would
like to select a new lender. Keep in mind that you always have the option to
change your lender. |
