Teacher-Scholar-Economist Alison
Del Rossi finds meaning in everything
she does.
The associate professor of economics, recently tenured
in recognition of her accomplishments and promise, has found "a
great balance between teaching and the opportunity to do meaningful
research."
Alison Del Rossi earned the Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania,
after receiving her bachelor's degree in English and economics from
the University of Delaware. She teaches all levels of economics courses,
but her areas of expertise are in the interactions between
individuals and government.
Del Rossi's current research focuses on smoking regulations and
she taught a senior seminar about smoking, drinking and economics.
She has also researched aspects of experimental economics, such as
bargaining and law.
"I knew after graduating that I wanted to be a teacher," Del
Rossi says. "The world of academia is where I am influential and
where I can make an impact on the lives of others." Of St. Lawrence,
she states, "There is a great balance between teaching and the
opportunity to do meaningful research," adding that small classes
and working with students of wide-ranging abilities are benefits of
being at the University.
