Key Control Policy
Faculty and Staff
KEY ISSUANCE
1. All key requests must be requested on the Faculty/Staff Key Request Form. (Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM is required to view and print the form.)
The form must be signed by the department chair or building manager.
2. Keys will be issued for the lowest level of access only, typically one key each for the exterior door, office door, and related lab/work space. Multiple keys for the same door will not be issued to one individual.
3. Building Master Keys will normally only be issued to the department chair and/or building manager.
4. Additional building Master Keys will only be provided after written approval by the appropriate senior staff member, i.e. vp for administrative operations, dean of the university.
Keys may be picked up at the Facilities Operations (FO) office Monday through Friday from 07:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m., unless special arrangements are made in advance to pick up keys at a different location. Keys will not be sent via campus mail.
KEY RETRIEVAL
1. Upon separation of employment and/or student status, all keys must be immediately returned to the FO department. The employee may have their final paycheck withheld if they do not return their key(s) prior to leaving the University.
