The custodial work group includes custodians, cleaners, and general laborers. The variety of older buildings require various cleaning techniques to enable effective and efficient cleaning of these buildings. The custodial work group is continually developing polices and procedures for cleaning tasks and activities. Feedback from the end user of the facility is welcomed. Managers will then follow-up with customer concerns.
Regular cleaning maintenance and duties in all campus buildings include:
- Dusting, sweeping, mopping, and/or vacuuming of all classrooms, offices, public areas, and their contents
- Trash removal
- Cleaning and disinfecting rest rooms and shower areas
- Facility locking and unlocking
- Reporting building damage and malfunctions through the department's work order system
Additional periodic duties include:
- Washing windows
- Stripping and refinishing floors
- Replacing light bulbs
- Snow removal/rake leaves
- University functions/setups
- Pest control problems
- Lost and found assistance
- Moving furniture
