Writers Series presents Lorrie Moore

4/23/15 8:00pm to 10:00pm

Joyce Carol Oates has said about Bark, Lorrie Moore’s 2014 short story collection, “ ‘Wings’ takes us on a rare flight of self-transcendence; the others are rueful journeys of self-discovery.” David Gates wrote in the New York Times, “Probably no writer since Nabokov has been as language-obsessed as Moore, but Moore is skeptical of language even as she makes it do tricks.” Bark follows the short story collections Self-Help, Like Life and Birds of America, and her novels Anagrams, Who Will Run the Frog Hospital? and The Gate at the Stairs. She edited Best American Short Stories 2005, the year in which she received an honorary doctorate from St. Lawrence, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1978.
