Ms. Courtney Battista Bish

Current Position: Dean of Students/ Chief Student Affairs Officer at the State University of New York at Canton. 

Position held since: 2012

Previous Employment:  Courtney has worked at SUNY Canton since 2002, first serving as a Residence Hall Director (2002-2004), then as Director of Residence Life (2004-2012), then as Dean of Students (2012-present).  In 2013, Courtney took on the Chief Student Affairs Officer role in addition to her duties as Dean of Students.  Prior to working at SUNY Canton, Courtney worked as a Caseworker at the Children’s Home of Jefferson County, as a Migrant Educational Specialist at Oswego County BOCES, and as a Pregnant & Parenting Teen Specialist at TASA/STAR through Planned Parenthood.

Educational Background:  Courtney graduated from Jefferson Community College with an Associate’s of Applied Science in Liberal Arts, from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2001 and from St. Lawrence University with a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2006. 

My St. Lawrence Experience:   “My experiences and connections at St. Lawrence truly helped to mold me into the leader that I am now within the higher education community.  I had the good fortune to work closely with Jim Waterson when he chaired the Educational Leadership program, and he provided positive mentorship and guidance that has continued to help me in my career today.  As both an undergraduate and a graduate student, I have many fond memories of the wonderful faculty and staff at St. Lawrence, and am proud to be part of the extensive network of alumni here in the North Country.”
