Principals' Academy

What is the Principals’ Academy?
The Principals’ Academy is a year-long leadership experience dedicated to the professional development, improvement and support of North Country principals. The Principals’ Academy begins with a three-day summer retreat followed by one full-day Friday per month (October – June) on the St. Lawrence University campus.

Who sponsors the Principals’ Academy?
The Principals’ Academy is a joint venture between the St. Lawrence-Lewis B.O.C.E.S. and the graduate Educational Leadership Program at St. Lawrence University. Participants from other B.O.C.E.S. will be considered as space allows.

What does it cost to attend the Principals’ Academy?
The Academy tuition is $ 1,100 per participant. All costs will be aidable through School Improvement CoSer 526.

What does the tuition include?
The Principals’ Academy tuition covers the retreat and all subsequent monthly sessions, all meals, lodging, instructional materials and administrative costs

Where is the Principals’ Academy held?
The Principals’ Academy kicks off with a three-day stay at Canaras, St. Lawrence University’s conference center located on scenic Upper Saranac Lake. Academic year sessions are held on the St. Lawrence University campus.

Can a principal attend just part of the Principals’ Academy?
No. A participant’s full engagement is required. The Principals’ Academy is designed to build a professional learning community among North Country principals. There are no fee adjustments for unattended sessions.
