GOOD AS NEW: Church's stained glass window restored
MASSENA - The Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ had just had its stained glass windows restored in 2007 when lightning struck and much of the building was destroyed by fire.
All but one of the windows remained intact after the fire, and thanks to the recent work of a nonprofit restoration company, the broken window of Jesus Christ is back together and as good as new. Firefighters broke the portrait of the standing Christ when they had to use the window as an entry to the church while fighting the fire. "All that was left of the window was from the shoulders up," said the Rev. Judith A. Van Kennen. "We were looking at either putting clear glass in, or a door." Read more....
