Even before he came to St. Lawrence, Christopher Yoshida ’00 knew
that he wanted to work on Wall Street. His economics classes
and campus leadership were perfect preparation for his aspiring
career, and a summer internship on Wall Street convinced him he was
heading in the right direction.
At St. Lawrence he studied economics and
was president of the Thelomathesian
Society (student government). He also was elected to the national honor society Phi
Beta Kappa, to the leadership
honorary Omicron Delta Kappa, and as student delegate to the Alumni
Council. If that’s not enough, Chris was a member of the Student
Judiciary Board, the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and manager of the intercollegiate
men’s ice hockey team.
In the summer between his junior and senior year, Chris completed
an internship and developed his friendship with the members
of the Board of Trustees with whom he had worked closely as Thelmo
president. He eventually met Donna Winston ’85, who was in charge
of recruiting at Goldman, Sachs, & Co. Chris was offered a position
and joined the company after graduation. He has since taken a new position
as an associate, Structured Credit Products, Morgan Stanley, and is
posted to London.
Networking was important in Chris’s career search,
and he returns the favor by networking with alumni and current St.
Lawrence students. Two examples? Gary Godshaw ’02 did an internship
with Chris’s firm and after graduation was offered a job; Breanne
Malloy ’03 also interned at Goldman, Sachs, & Co. over the
summer of 2002.
