Randy Olivo ’06 caught the campus bug—the
leadership bug. “Becoming active in numerous activities
on campus gave me a better understanding of everything around
me,” Randy says. “Once I saw how
easy it was to become involved, it was like a bug bit me,
and I just kept joining more groups.” From the executive board
of the student government to
the Investment Club, to balancing an economics and government double
major, he is one very busy student.
And effective at managing his
time. Randy is three-time CSTEP Student
of the Year and winner of the Jeffrey Campbell Award, named for the
first African-American graduate of St. Lawrence.
Says Olivo, “Being so involved
has given me the chance to learn the structure of institutions, meet
lots of wonderful people, change our campus
in positive ways, and take advantage of all that St. Lawrence has
to offer.”
Having gone to high school in New York City and
graduating from Marta Valle High School, Randy Olivo says he was
looking for a change for college. “There
was something special about the people and the environment that made
me want to come here,” he says.
After graduation, Olivo plans to pursue an MBA, and hopes to go into
investment banking, sales and trading, or financial management.
