Diversity Profiles
Marcella Hall ’09

Marcella Hall ’09 is not leaving SLU empty-handed.  The Rockaway, NY, resident and Math/Science Research Technical Magnet High School graduate is taking with her a diverse college palate and a long list of SLU accomplishments.

A double math and economics major with a minor in applied statistics, Marcella was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as one of the top half-dozen scholars in her class.  She is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) leadership and honorary society as well as Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society and Pi Mu Epsilon, the math honor society, where she is secretary.

“My accomplishments mean a lot to me because I have worked really hard for them over the last four years,” Hall says.  “None of my accomplishments would have been possible without the opportunities I’ve been given at SLU.”

Hall is a member of the Black Student Union.  She is an active participant in the SLU Math Club and was co-vice president during her junior year.  Hall is a Quantitative Resource Center (QRC) mentor and has spent a large amount of time tutoring and acting as a teaching assistant (TA) for numerous math and economics courses.  She has also been a Community Assistant (CA) for the past two years.

I have been given the opportunity to work with a wonderful ‘ResLife’ staff and some of the smartest and most kindhearted professors in both the math and economics departments,” Hall says.  “Most of all, SLU has allowed me to create friendships with individuals that I will cherish forever.”

Post-graduation, Marcella plans to work in the financial/banking industry for a few years and then hopes to return to school to further her education.  “I will always be grateful for my St. Lawrence education,” Hall says.
