The Salt Lake City,
Utah native knew that he wanted to go to a small liberal arts college,
and now is convinced “St. Lawrence is a great place to make
your home.”
Akinmade’s majors and two main interests are
government and economics. “I’ve
always been interested in politics, ever since I was young,”
says Akinmade, “so government came naturally as my major.”
Akinmade plans to go on to graduate school in international relations.
On campus he is involved in Model U.N., an extracurricular activity
that examines international affairs. “It’s a lot of fun,
but also really academic,” he says. “Each year we research
a different country and then attend an annual conference. Last year
we researched Zimbabwe and Macedonia, and it was very demanding.”
Akinmade spent the spring semester of 2005 on
St. Lawrence’s program in London,
England , and knows first-hand that
“St. Lawrence offers outstanding study abroad opportunities.”
Back on campus, he’s a member of Model U.N., SLU Democrats, and
Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary.
