“I text, therefore I am.” – The computer-mediated identity.

Michael Wesch recently challenged the St. Lawrence community to consider what is at stake in a mediated culture. Dr. MacGregor, St. Lawrence alum and former instructor in Psychology and the FYP, dives into the heart of the matter: what is at stake when our very selfhood is computer-mediated? Drawing on research carried out by her FYS classes, “Doc Mac” will discuss what college students report about their own cell phone and internet usage. Should we question our own reliance on the internet for identity creation and social interaction?

Dr. MacGregor is an Independent Scholar of the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley.
